Why does God give problems to poor people?

In Vaishnavism, it’s not directly God, it’s material nature acting under His direction. Because the eternal soul, jivatma, transmigrates from one body to another, an easy rule of thumb is that we experience whatever experiences we have given to others. If we have given problems to poor people in one life, then in another we will be poor and face problems.

Material nature is impartial - neither vindictive nor preferential. Action/Reaction. Cause/Effect.

This only works with the understanding of reincarnation and karma, and then it’s straightforward. Without that understanding it can seem ‘mysterious’. Different explanations are put forward but none of them are as straightforward as reincarnation and karma.
