Where were we when we were born? I meant like before we were an egg in our mom’s belly. My theory was we were reincarnated.
Your theory is confirmed by Vedic testimony in general and specifically by Sri Krishna in Bhagavad Gita.
As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones. Bg 2.22
Sri Krishna explains that the spirit soul is eternal, never having been created and impossible to destroy. In order to get to the egg in your mom’s belly you travelled in the sperm of your father, which carried you there. This is explained in Srimad Bhagavatam.
The Personality of Godhead said: Under the supervision of the Supreme Lord and according to the result of his work, the living entity, the soul, is made to enter into the womb of a woman through the particle of male semen to assume a particular type of body. On the first night, the sperm and ovum mix, and on the fifth night the mixture ferments into a bubble. On the tenth night it develops into a form like a plum, and after that, it gradually turns into a lump of flesh or an egg, as the case may be. SB 3.31.2
Elsewhere it’s mentioned that the soul enters the potential father through the food that he eats.
Here’s the breakdown of the account of development from Srimad Bhagavatam side by side with modern biology.
The account from Srimad Bhagavatam is over 5,000 years old long, before microscopes.
