There are many local, regressive, and harmful practices in society; how can they be eradicated?

Regressive and harmful practices stem from impure or sinful desires, so the solution is to purify our desires. That can be done by associating with what is pure, which in this age is simply and cheaply done by chanting the Lord’s holy names. Therefore sankirtana is the yuga dharma.

Those who are actually advanced in knowledge are able to appreciate the essential value of this Age of Kali. Such enlightened persons worship Kali-yuga because in this fallen age all perfection of life can easily be achieved by the performance of sankirtana. Indeed, there is no higher possible gain for embodied souls forced to wander throughout the material world than the Supreme Lord's sankirtana movement, by which one can attain the supreme peace and free oneself from the cycle of repeated birth and death. Srimad Bhagavatam 11.5.36-37

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

This mantra, consisting of 16 words and 32 syllables, is the only means against evil in this age. After searching through all the Vedic literature, one cannot find a method of religion more sublime for the age of Kali than the chanting of Hare Krishna. Kali-santarana Upanishad

Sri Krishna has appeared in His holy names, not to kill demons, but to kill demonic mentalities and desires by purification through chanting Hare Krishna.

All glories to the Sri Krishna sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This sankirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious. Sri Skishashtaka of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
