Isn't Lord Krishna the Son of God the Father Vasudeva/Vishnu?
It can be a little confusing as to who Krishna is.
In His eternal lila in the spiritual realm Krishna is the son of Mother Yasoda and Nanda Maharaja.
In His lila on Earth, Krishna is the son of Vasudeva and Devaki and is then taken secretly to the home of Mother Yasoda and Nanda Maharaja, who bring Him up as their own son. In Goloka Vrindavan, Krishna is actually their son, but in His earthly lila they are His foster parents.
This is known to Vasudeva and Devaki, but not to Mother Yasoda and Nanda Maharaja.
Outside of His these lilas Krishna is the Absolute Truth being the absolute substantive principle, the ultimate entity in the form of the support of all existence including all expansions of Godhead, the living entities, and the material and spiritual worlds. This is hard to grasp because all expansions of Krishna are eternal, but that’s how it’s described.
This much is stated in the first verse of the topmost Purana. Bhagavat Purana.
O my Lord, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, son of Vasudeva, O all-pervading Personality of Godhead, I offer my respectful obeisances unto You. I meditate upon Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa because He is the Absolute Truth and the primeval cause of all causes of the creation, sustenance and destruction of the manifested universes. He is directly and indirectly conscious of all manifestations, and He is independent because there is no other cause beyond Him. It is He only who first imparted the Vedic knowledge unto the heart of Brahmājī, the original living being. By Him even the great sages and demigods are placed into illusion, as one is bewildered by the illusory representations of water seen in fire, or land seen on water. Only because of Him do the material universes, temporarily manifested by the reactions of the three modes of nature, appear factual, although they are unreal. I therefore meditate upon Him, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, who is eternally existent in the transcendental abode, which is forever free from the illusory representations of the material world. I meditate upon Him, for He is the Absolute Truth. SB 1.1.1
And by Krishna Himself in Bhagavad Gita.
I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts. Bg 10.8
And tomorrow is the celebration of Sri Krishna’s appearance on Earth known as Sri Krishna Janmastami.
