How to please God according to Bhagavad Gita?

Krishna doesn’t directly say what is pleasing to Him in so many words. He explains more on the lines of what will happen if we do this, that, or the other. What is good, not good, better, and best for us to do. What is easier and what is harder for us to do. Most of the time He is explaining things from our perspective so that we can make informed decisions on how to act.

Among other things, Krishna recommends three times that we should always think of Him because that will bring us back to Him, which is what He wants and is best for us.

Therefore, Arjuna, you should always think of Me in the form of Krsna and at the same time carry out your prescribed duty of fighting. With your activities dedicated to Me and your mind and intelligence fixed on Me, you will attain Me without doubt. Bg 8.7

Engage your mind always in thinking of Me, become My devotee, offer obeisances to Me and worship Me. Being completely absorbed in Me, surely you will come to Me. Bg 9.34

Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend. Bg 18.65

Finally He recommends that we surrender to Him.

Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear. Bg 18.66

One of the best ways to always think of Krishna is to hear and chant His name. Although it’s an uphill battle a lot of the time, with practice, humility, and avoiding offences, Krishna will manifests to us in His name and then it’s not possible to not think of Him.

As to what pleases Krishna we can get a very good idea from what Krishna says about who is dear to Him and what sort of activity we can do (or not do) to endear ourselves to Him. Logically, if we are dear to Krishna we are doing something that pleases Him.

Bg 12.13-14 - One who is not envious but is a kind friend to all living entities, who does not think himself a proprietor and is free from false ego, who is equal in both happiness and distress, who is tolerant, always satisfied, self-controlled, and engaged in devotional service with determination, his mind and intelligence fixed on Me-such a devotee of Mine is very dear to Me.

Bg 12.15 - He for whom no one is put into difficulty and who is not disturbed by anyone, who is equipoised in happiness and distress, fear and anxiety, is very dear to Me.

Bg 12.16 - My devotee who is not dependent on the ordinary course of activities, who is pure, expert, without cares, free from all pains, and not striving for some result, is very dear to Me.

Bg 12.17 - One who neither rejoices nor grieves, who neither laments nor desires, and who renounces both auspicious and inauspicious things-such a devotee is very dear to Me.

Bg 12.18-19 - One who is equal to friends and enemies, who is equipoised in honor and dishonor, heat and cold, happiness and distress, fame and infamy, who is always free from contaminating association, always silent and satisfied with anything, who doesn't care for any residence, who is fixed in knowledge and who is engaged in devotional service-such a person is very dear to Me.

Bg 12.20 - Those who follow this imperishable path of devotional service and who completely engage themselves with faith, making Me the supreme goal, are very, very dear to Me.

Bg 18.68–69 - For one who explains this supreme secret to the devotees, pure devotional service is guaranteed, and at the end he will come back to Me. There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he, nor will there ever be one more dear.
